Mackenzie Johnson
Mackenzie Johnson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with individuals and couples navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, mood concerns, trauma, and substance use. She is especially known for her ability to build strong, trusting connections with clients, creating a space where people feel comfortable, understood, and supported in making meaningful change.
Mackenzie has developed a particular strength in working with couples, helping partners improve communication, navigate conflict, and better understand one another’s emotional needs. She supports couples in identifying patterns within their relationship and working toward more connected, effective ways of relating.
In her work with individuals, Mackenzie helps clients navigate periods of uncertainty, stress, and transition: whether related to early adulthood, life direction, or shifting circumstances. She supports clients in building self-awareness, strengthening coping skills, and developing a clearer sense of purpose and direction.
Her approach is collaborative and integrative, drawing from person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Mackenzie works alongside her clients to create a process that feels both supportive and practical, helping them move toward lasting, sustainable change.
Clients often experience Mackenzie as warm, approachable, and easy to connect with. She brings a genuine, down-to-earth presence to her work while helping clients feel empowered in their growth.
Mackenzie earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Albany.
